From Dali to Monasteries

From Dali to Monasteries

Our Epicurean Travel day began with a visit to the amazing Dali museum in Figueres. If you think that Dali is melting clocks….think again….his museum is filled with a wide variety of his works and his jewelry. So different from my pre-conceived notions. Here is one of his paintings (him painting his wife, Gaya), just one of the treasures hanging on the walls of this magnificent museum (the building is, itself, a piece of art)

And outside the museum, more of Dali’s innovative work.

And here are a few pictures from Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery – the oldest Benedictine order (founded in the 9th Century) in Spain.  The Monastery was built beginning in the 10thCentury and was abandoned in 1793.  It is beautifully situated with breathtaking views of the sea, the mountains and wildflowers.
